The world’s oldest panda, Jia Jia was put to sleep today in Hong Kong’s Ocean park at the ripe age of 38 (114 years in human age).

Jia Jia was euthanized after he her health rapidly deteriorated over the past 2 weeks. She stopped eating as much as she used to and lost a lot of weight. She was also diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes, high blood pressure and arthritis. The decision to put her to sleep came on Sunday after she spent the whole day lying down, unable to walk.

Chairman of ocean park. Leo Kung Lin-cheng said;

“Jia Jia was a member of their family who had spent 17 wonderful years with Hong Kong people, and she will be deeply missed.”
