Politics Nigeria: Nigerian politicians are clearly the highest earning politicians in the world. Recent reports have made it known that Nigerian senators earn the highest salaries in the world. In fact, no country comes close. Not even the united states. Nigerian politicians are strikingly rich. This has virtually made many to view Nigerian politics as a get-rich-quick scheme. Politicians fight tooth and nail to ensure that they attain or maintain their desired positions. There are many politicians who are owners of private jets in Nigeria. Research shows that over 100 Nigerians are owners of private jets. Nigeria is the third highest country with the most number of private jets in the world, after the United states and China. In this case, we are number one in Africa. It costs about N300 million to maintain one private jet annually. This implies that all owners of private jets are Billionaires! No wonder why it is only top politicians, business moguls and church founders that are able to afford it. Many Nigerians are always anxious and eager to know who and who owns private jets in the country. This write up will focus on the top Politicians in Nigeria with the highest number of private jets.

#1 Orji Uzor Kalu:
Chief Orji Uzor Kalu was the Governor of Abia state between 1999 and 2007. He owns 5 private jets. Kalu owns several chains of businesses which includes, the SLOK Holding, the sun newspapers, the telegraph newspapers, etc. At 26, Orji Uzor Kalu was already a millionaire. His latest private jet, the Gulf-stream G650 is the most expensive private jet in the country. He is by far the politician with the highest number of private jets in the country.

#2 Ali Modu Sheriff

Ali Modu Sheriff is a former senator and a two-term Governor of Bornu state. He is among the owners of private jets in Nigeria. He is the first ever Governor of Bornu state to serve for two terms consecutively. He owns 4 private jets including Gulfstream G650. Ali Modu Sheriff was recently removed as the National chairman of the PDP.

#3 Bola Tinubu
He is fast becoming the “oracle of modern day Yoruba politics”. He is fast becoming very influential in politics in Nigeria. Tinubu’s political influence has been on the speed lane ever since the APC took over power from PDP in 2015. He is a former Governor of Lagos state and his wife is currently serving as a senator of the federal republic. He owns two private jets. The latest is XRS bombardier express which reportedly cost $50 million.

#4 Senator Godswill Akpabio
He is the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom state and is currently serving as the senate minority leader. Akpabio is loved by many in Akwa Ibom owing to his excellent performance during his regime as Governor. Akpabio is one of the few owners of private jets in Nigeria. It is reported that he bought a brand new bombardier express in 2016.

#5 Rotimi Amaechi:

He is currently the minister of transportation. After his tenure as the governor of Rivers state, Amaechi moved from the PDP to the APC and became one of the string supporters of President Buhari. He is one of the few owners of private jets in Nigeria. He owns one private jet.

There are several other Nigerians that would have made this list, but our emphasis was centered on the top political office holders only.
