Education is undoubtedly the key to the development of any society. The education system in Nigeria has been depleted by the despotic state of Politics in Nigeria. In Nigerian politics, insignificant attention is given to the education system and this is simply the major reason the Nigerian universities are recurrently on strike. In the midst of this, the number of universities have been increasing steadily across the country. Some States are endowed with a handful of universities while some are not. In this post, we shall highlight the top 5 States with the highest number of universities.

NUMBER 1: Ogun state.
The Gateway state tops this list with a total of 13 accredited universities. This includes one federal university, two state universities and eleven private universities. Below are the universities situated in Ogun state:

Edo is has 7 universities in total. The first ever lrivate university in Nigeria – Igbinedion University is Situated in Edo. Edo ranks 3rd on this list of states with the highest number of universities in Nigeria.
