ita enang - Rift between the senate and presidency will be resolved soon - Ita Enang

Senator Ita Enang, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly matters (Senate), dropped the hint while speaking on Nigerian Television Authority, NTA.

On resumption from its mid-term break on Tuesday, the country’s Senate blew hot after it insisted that
the Presidency must remove Ibrahim Magu as acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) because it did not clear him.The senators further threatened sanctions against the Executive arm should its latest order was not complied with.

Enang, himself an experienced lawyer, said the Senate was performing its constitutional duties and there was no cause for alarm as the areas of disagreement was being addressed by the two parties.

‎”No doubt, the constitution permits the Nigerian Senate to confirm nominees for FCC, INEC, CBN, NDIC, EFCC among others. In the discharge of their, there is bound to be some disagreement along the line. The two arms are working to resolve the issues.”

The presidential aide insisted that what has happened at the Upper Chambers is “Legislative activities and not an impasse.”
