Oyo state governor-elect, Seyi Makinde received a large number of people on Monday morning, who came to congratulate him over his victory at the poll.
Top political figures in the crowd were the former governor of the state, Rashidi Ladoja and a former lawmaker, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin.
Makinde emerged winner of the poll under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with a total of 515,621 votes to beat Adebayo Adelabu, his closest rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled a total of 357,982 votes. Makinde won 28 out of 33 local government areas.
Olufemi Lanlehin, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who stepped down to support Makinde a few days before the election came third in the governorship poll with 12,375 votes.
Makinde later in the day at a press conference promised to fulfil the desire of the residents for a better standard of living.
He added that with God’s help, he won’t disappoint.
