Many children killed, others trapped as Lagos building collapses

Many pupils died on Wednesday after the collapse of a three-storey building at the Itafaji area of Lagos Island.

PoliticsNGR gathered that the sad event occurred around 10 am today.

According to an eyewitness, a primary school located on the top floor of the building collapsed leaving many pupils feared dead and others trapped.

The structure is reported to be a residential building with several apartments.

Emergency and rescue workers are currently at the scene of the incident.



Speaking with Punch, Prince Adams, who lives in the area said no fewer than 10 pupils had been removed from the rubble so far.

“It is terrible. Parents are crying. I can’t withstand the gorry sight,” he added.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Kehinde Adebayo, also confirmed the collapse, adding that emergency officials were already on the ground.
