The Lagos State Governor-elect under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Babajide Sanwoolu will reportedly have no say in the formation of the state cabinet when he resumes office on May 29, 2019.

Insiders revealed to us exclusively that the Governor-Elect was informed prior to the March 9, 2019 general elections that he would have to forget about influencing anybody into the membership of the state cabinet if he eventually becomes the Governor of the state.

We were reliably informed that Sanwoolu was reportedly made to sign an undertaking to that effect and that he agreed to the terms of the party leadership, including Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former governor Rauf Aregbesola, who made him realize that he should not tow the path of destruction if he wanted to succeed as Governor.

Besides, we were informed that the Governor-Elect was told that he would only have the privilege of constituting membership of just two boards in the state and that the rest would be handled by the leaders of the party and concerned stakeholders.

“I can tell you that Sanwoolu was given no go areas, especially as it relates to board membership.

“He was also informed that he should not think he would be the only governor in the state and that his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be working with him to steer the ship of the state,” said a source.

The source added that Sanwoolu was told to avoid the cause of the pitfalls of outgoing Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, adding that there would be no room for mistakes.

He informed us further that the list of commissioners and special advisers for the next dispensation in Lagos State are currently being compiled by Engineer Rauf Aregbesola.

It was gathered that the Governor-Elect did not have any objection to the demands of APC leaders as he never dreamed of moving near the position of a governor though he had been a commissioner in the state in the past.

Those close to the leadership of the APC informed us exclusively that the Governor had prepared his mind for the tasks ahead and that all hands were on deck for a smooth takeoff of governance in the state of aquatic splendour.
