Reno Omokri, the former media aide to former president Goodluck Jonathan says President Muhammadu Buhari ought to have travelled to Ita Faji, Lagos Island, where a three-story building collapsed killing about ten people and leaving many injured.
Omokri, who is a staunch critic of the present administration gave an example of Russia’s president, Vladmir Putin who flew to Russia’s Ural Mountains region in 2018 to participate in rescue efforts at a collapsed building in subzero weather.
He took to his Twitter handle to make the call.
“President @MBuhari ought to have travelled to Lagos for an on the spot assessment of the #LagosBuildingCollapse. As dictatorial as Putin is alleged to be, he flew to Russia’s Ural Mountains region in 2018 to participate in rescue efforts at a collapsed building in SUBZERO WEATHER,” he wrote.
Although, the president in a statement by Femi Adesina, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity had reacted to the sad event, where he charged the Lagos state government to do the needful to avoid such tragic event reoccurring in the state.
While commiserating with the people of the state and the state government, Buhari pledged assistance of the Federal Government as may be required by the state.
“It touches one to lose precious lives in any kind of mishap, particularly those so young and tender. May God grant everyone affected by this sad incident fortitude and succour,” the President said.
