Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has denied decamping from the ruling All Progressives party (APC) to the People Democratic Party,(PDP).
An aide to Kwankwaso, Malam Nafiu Dankura, stated that the report alleging that Kwankwaso had decamped to the PDP, was ‘fake news’, adding that Kwankwaso remained a ‘strong pillar’ of the APC. Although he admitted that the PDP reached out to the former Kano state governor, he said that Kwankwaso remains with the APC.
He told the Nation;“It is rumour and fake news that is circulating in some online media and radio stations that the Distinguished Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has defected to PDP”.
This is not true as the Distinguished Senator is a strong pillar of APC and he is still an APC card holder.The senator has not at any time thought of decamping to PDP,”
Speaking on the PDP’s reach out to the senator, Dankura said;
“PDP was only calling on all their members that left the party to come back. It wasn’t just about him.It would be recalled that Kano chapter of the APC has also reacted to Kwankwaso’s ‘defection’”.
It will be recalled that Kwankwaso and his successor, Umar Ganduje are not on good terms and sometime in March last year, the Kano chapter of the APC made moves to suspend Kwankwaso for alleged ‘anti-party’ activities.
