The Kano state house of Assembly has indefinitely suspended its investigation of Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano. An investigation was launched into the activities of the Emir following allegations of financial misappropriation.
Speaker of the Kano state house of assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Alhassan Rurum made the announcement this afternoon in Kano. He revealed that the investigation was halted following a letter from the state governor, Dr Umar Ganduje, who pleaded with lawmakers to suspend the investigation.
Rurum added that after much deliberation among the lawmakers, a decision was reached to suspend the probe on the Emir. Politics Nigeria learnt that 34 out of the 40 lawmakers voted in support of stopping the investigation.
This development is coming a week after the Kano state anti-corruption agency suspended its investigation of the monarch. Emir Sanusi is accused of misappropriating N6 billion since his tenure began.
