The Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike is under serious pressure from Top chieftains and party bigwigs within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to rescind his decision to resign from the campaign council of Presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar.
Wike shockingly resigned as the South-South zonal coordinator of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council on Saturday fuelling speculations that all was not well within the opposition party.
A lot of elders within the party have reached out to Wike urging him to change his mind and accept the position in the interest of the party.
The Rivers governor was in October named zonal coordinator along side Ayo Fayose, Aminu Tambuwal, Ibrahim Dankwambo, Samuel Ortom, and Dave Umahi with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, as Director-General of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Council.
Specifically, Governor Aminu Tambuwal is in charge of Northwest, Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, Northeast; Governor Samuel Ortom, North-Central; Governor Dave Umahi, Southeast; Governor Nyesom Wike, South-South and former Governor Ayodele Fayose, Southwest.
Wike’s grievance lies in the way decisions and actions were taken without consultation with the party leaders.
