Rescue operation ongoing at Lagos collapsed building [PHOTOS]

Rescue efforts by the Lagos state government are currently ongoing at Ita Faaji, Lagos Island after a building collapsed, killing many children, leaving others were trapped.

The three-storey building collapsed around 10 am today. A primary school is located on the top floor of the collapsed structure.

A tweet from the Lagos state government reads: “BREAKING NEWS!!! Ongoing rescue operations by the Lagos State Rescue Unit at the collapsed building at Ita-Faaji, Lagos Island. #LRU #LASG.”

The structure is reported to be a residential building with several apartments.

As at the time of filing this report, over a hundred pupils are said to be trapped in the building.

Mothers of some of the wards are seen rolling on the floor crying bitterly, as they are yet to know the state of their wards who are trapped under the building.
