An office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Ngo-Okpala area of Imo state has been set ablaze by suspected political thugs.

This development is occurring a day after the keenly contested gubernatorial elections took place in the state.

It was gathered that the thugs invaded the premises of the INEC office while electoral officers where collating results of the state house of assembly and Gubernatorial elections.

The stormed the area around 2 pm on Sunday. The hoodlums overpowered the security guard and chased everyone in the premises away before setting the building on fire.

Luckily, Policemen around the area were swift to response as they rescued the officials and electoral items, quickly moving them to the INEC headquarters in Owerri.
