A judge investigating the cases of some top druglords including the popular ‘El chapo’ was gruesomely murdered last monday.
Vicente Antonio Bermúdez Zacarías was jogging in Metepec, Mexico, when two individuals ambushed him. One of them ran up behind him and shot him in the head. The 37 year old was rushed to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
Prior to his death, Zacarias was popular in Mexico for handling high profile drug cases. He recently suspended the extradition of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, head of the Sinaloa cartel, to the Unites States to face drug trafficking charges. In contrast, he approved the extradition of another dangerous druglord, Abigail Gonzalez Valencia, leader of a cartel known as ‘Los Cuinis’. It is believed that the development did not go down well with members of the ‘los cuinis’.
The Mexican police is yet to release a statement on the murder, so its still unclear if it is drug related.
