Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has called on Nigerians to pray for the people of Kaduna over incessant killings that have been happening in the state.
The recent incident that occurred this morning left nine citizens dead at Nandu village in Sanga Local Government Area (LGA) after unknown gunmen attacked the area also burnt several houses in the village.
Adeyanju, who lamented the killing of innocent citizens ongoing in the state said it’s like the state government doesn’t exist there. He also added that Borno state is almost a dead state as a result of the insurgency.
“Pray for Kaduna. Killing of innocent citizens ongoing. Its like government doesn’t exist there.
“From APP, ANPP, APC, they are all the same party. The APC has been Incharge in Borno since 1999. That state is crippled, almost dead.”
Reacting to the incident, Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i, who condemned the act appeals to the people of the communities to resist those who do not want peace.
While commiserating with the families of the victims, he prayed for the repose of their souls.
He added that his administration in partnership with security agencies, traditional and religious institutions will continue to work towards sustainable peace.
He, therefore, urged the people to come together in this moment of grief to defeat the machinations of those who have no notion of respect for the lives of others.
“Violence has left an unacceptable toll of death and injury, loss of livelihoods, pain and fear. We must overcome this by respecting our common humanity, settling differences peacefully and promptly reporting threats and suspicions to the appropriate authorities. Evil will never triumph over our common humanity,” he said.
He added that security agencies have been deployed in the area, and the State Emergency Management Agency has been directed to immediately provide relief materials to the affected community.
