The Senate, Wednesday, said acts of corruption take place in the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and vowed to put an end to it.

The upper legislative chamber said that it is ready to unravel all alleged extortion and imposition of charges, among other hardships inflicted on pilgrims by NAHCON and stop such sharp practices henceforth.

The assurances to clean up NAHCON was made at the beginning of a two-day public hearing by the Senate Adhoc Committee on Accommodation, Logistics, Feeding Offshore and Onshore of Nigeria Pilgrims held at Hearing Room One of the Senate White House building.

Speaking at the occasion, Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero, chairman of the committee, lamented that “there are tales of woes and sorrows by Nigerian pilgrims as it relates to their accommodations, feeding, hajj fare and movements while in Saudi Arabia.
