A former governor of Jigawa State, Saminu Turaki, regained his freedom on Thursday after fulfilling his bail conditions.
A Federal High Court in Abuja ordered for his release on Thursday morning after he filed a motion for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to be removed from the parties that will verify the authenticity of the documents contained in the bail conditions.
It was gathered that Turaki was still being held in Kuje Prisons in Abuja after fulfilling his bail conditions a week ago. The ex-governors counsel, Regina Okitie-Eboh revealed to the court that the EFCC was purposely delaying the verification processes even as all the bail conditions have been fully complied with.
Presiding Judge, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba granted the motion in its entirety and ordered all parties to comply with immediate effect. Turaki is standing trial on 32 counts of fraud.
