The Emir of Zazzau, Dr Shehu Idris, on Thursday tasked his subjects on the need to follow due process in obtaining loan for agriculture.
Idris made this known during a Traditional Sallah Homage, locally known as Gaisuwan Fada, on the Emir at his palace in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the homage is an age-long tradition, where Zazzau Emirate council members, district heads and other subjects, pay homage on the emir two days after each Sallah.
Idris, represented by Sarkin Fulanin Zazzau, Alhaji Barau Aliyu-Damau, said the call became necessary in view of the importance of agriculture to human existence.
The emir stressed the need for farmers to organise themselves into cooperatives to benefit from series of agricultural loan facilities initiated by the present administration aimed at changing their lives for the better.
The emir said also that there was need to check the menace of drug abuse in the society especially among youths and women.
He said it was regrettable that women now indulge in drug abuse, adding that such attitude was a setback to ensuring decent society.
Idris advised parents to always ensure proper upbringing of their children toward building a sound and healthy society.
He appreciated his subjects for conducting themselves during the Sallah which culminated into a hitch-free celebration, and urged them to sustain the tempo.
