Alhaji Adamu Yunusa, the Ona of Abaji and Chairman, FCT Traditional Rulers Council, has charged Muslims to imbibe the spirit of love, tolerance and peaceful co-existence for meaningful development.
Yunusa gave the advice to commemorate the Eid el-Kabir festival in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abaji on Tuesday.
He said that every Nigerian needed to pray for peaceful co-existence, especially as the country prepares for the 2019 general elections.
“Muslims should strive to give more charity to the needy in this period of the Eid and always, in order to put smile on their faces.
“I also want to use this medium to appeal to Muslims to eschew violence and imbibe the spirit of love, tolerance, togetherness, sacrifice and peaceful coexistence.
“Today’s celebration is a commemoration of total submissiveness and obedience and the need to love one another.”
The traditional ruler stressed the need for Muslim faithful to always pray for the nation and its leaders at all levels of government, adding that prayer is the solution to all societal problems.
He also admonished Muslims to fear Allah wherever they found themselves and be agents of peace building.
Besides, Yunusa enjoined Muslims to pray for the peaceful conduct of the 2019 general elections and advised the youths not to allow themselves to be used for violence.
