Education is the solution to terrorism in North-East – Don

Prof. Saleh Abdu of Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State, says education is the panacea for terrorism in the North-East and advised parents and governments at all levels to work hard in that direction.

Abdu, a Professor of English, said this at the Speech and Prize Giving Day and graduation ceremony of Senior Secondary School III of Pen Recourse Academy, Gombe on Saturday.

According to him, quality education will play a vital role toward addressing the problem of terrorism in North-East, Nigeria and the world.

He advised parents to complement the efforts of teachers and the government by enlightening their wards on the dangers of terrorism.

Abdu also underscored the need to develop curricular to address the terrorism challenge.

He further commended the effort of the Federal Government in the fight against terrorism in the country especially in the North-East.

In his remarks, Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe, represented by his Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Alhaji Shehu Durbi, described the school as one of the best in the country.

Dankwambo urged parents and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to complement the efforts of the government toward the development of education in the state.

According to him, education is the first, second and third priority of his administration because of its importance in ensuring a good future for children.

Dr Stanley Mai-Kano, the Principal of the school, said that all the graduating students had met university admission requirements and that they were that third set of graduates from the school.

Mai-Kano urged parents and guardians to continue to support the education of their children.
