The Anambra Local Government Service Commission has promoted 1,874 senior workers who sat for the 2017 promotion interview.
Chairman of the commission, Mr Peter Egenti, said this on Saturday in Onitsha.
Egenti congratulated the affected staff and urged them to justify their elevation by giving greater support to the commission’s agenda.
He also urged them to remain disciplined and productive so as to transform the state local government system.
“The release of the promotion for senior staff on Grade Level 07 and above is a motivational factor for better performance of staff of local government system.
“The commission will continue to improve workers’ welfare in order to enhance their attitude to work,” he said.
Egenti urged those promoted to reciprocate the kind gesture of government by shunning absenteeism and lateness to work.
He said that severe sanctions awaited offenders, adding that the commission would soon conduct the 2018 promotion examination.
According to him, the released 2017 promotion list has been forwarded to the Ministry of Local Government, Cheiftaincy and Community Affairs as well as the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) for payment of financial benefits to those affected.
