In a statement in Abuja on Monday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said though the contracts for many of the roads were awarded before the advent of this Administration, they were either poorly funded or not funded at all, hence work on the roads has lingered.
The Minister said the 69 roads and bridges, which are spread across the five states in the South-east, are now in different stages of completion, thanks to the funding sourced by the present Administration from budgetary allocations, the Sukuk Bond and the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund.
He said the government is also looking into the possibility of using a part of the recovered looted funds to fund the development of infrastructure across the country.
While announcing the projects, which include the rehabilitation of the existing Niger Bridge as well as the construction of the 2nd Niger Bridge last week, Alhaji Mohammed promised to publish the full list of the roads and bridges, as well as give a state-by-state breakdown of the total figure.

Please verify this list. Not just mentioning. Governors, please tell us whether these projects have commenced. How many have been completed or near completion. Thank you.
Bro, nothing to verify; it's all spurious claims. There is no federal road in Imo State you can ply without shedding tears. The Owerri-Umuahia Road for one is a disaster. Reports across the entire spectrum of the south east echo similar woes. Does the fact that over 90% of the so-called projects on this list were awarded by regimes prior to Buhari's not tell you anything?. No surprises there; it's the 5% vote backlash!
When he raised the issues of the ongoing projects, wailers says its a lie that he should lost them, now that he has done that you want him to verify for you, if pdp has a leading opposition party cant verify, then they are not ready as the main opposition party
Yes buhari government is working in the South East unlike Jonathan government that overlooked the South East region
The list has shown how deceitful this government can be. Since this government came to power, Mbaise Umuahia road remains a death trap. Nothing has been done on the road.
Mbaise Ngwa road is a road project initiated by GEC government. Since GEC left government in 2015, the road has been abandoned. No sign of any contactor on sight except for the rickety equipment all deserted by the contractor. The construction from Afor Ogbe axis meant to terminate at Udo area is still not up to Nkwo Otulu which is not close to 20% completion.
Please, I am from the southeast. No one can argue on that list. The PDP should as a matter of urgency tell us what the did in 16 yrs. If not ?
Nkporo-Abriba Ohafia Road Greatest lie, nonsense from a lifeless government that do project only in the pages of news paper.
