The Bauch state government has expressed fears over a plot to blackmail the state’s governor, Abubakar Mohammed. In a statement signed by Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar, a special assistant on Communications to the governor, certain Mischief makers are keen on causing unrest in the state.
The statement read;
Our attention has been drawn to plans being orchestrated by mischief makers to cause political tension in the state by pasting and distributing political posters solely meant to blackmail His Excellency Governor Mohammed A Abubakar. Also, intelligence reports show a few miscreants have perfected plans to distribute false information and cause chaos.
Members of the public are therefore advised to disregard any dubious political posters, fake news websites and unverified info from questionable sources.
For the avoidance of doubt, Governor M. A. Abubakar remains steadfast, loyal and in sync with the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal government and APC’s drive to bring the dividends of democracy to the state.
Rest assured, the security agencies are on high alert to ensure no sponsored criminal elements paste false political posters to deface the state. We must also state that posting fake and unverified news item is libellous and punishable by law. We warn those peddling falsehood to desist now or face the full consequences of their actions.
Gov. M.A Abubakar urges all to remain law abiding. The great people of Bauchi state will not be distracted in our march towards the future and will reject the despicable pranks of the few who want to hold us back. This is not the first time efforts are made to malign the good work done in the state, but as do all previous efforts, this will fail woefully as Bauchi remains united and one.
