The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has given situation report about a building that collapsed during a demolition exercise in Oke-Arin area of Lagos Island on Monday.

According to the agency, the collapsed building located at Egerton oke Arin square had been marked by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) for demolition, which started on Sunday.

The officials were on top of the building when some scavengers tried to remove the doors on the ground floor and the remaining parts of the building collapsed on them.

The four scavengers sustained minor injuries and had been taken to the nearest hospital before the arrival of LRT.

Details about the collapse which comes less than a week after a building collapsed at Ita Faji, leaving twenty dead are sketchy.

According to LASEMA, the building is one of those marked by the LASCBCA for demolition.
