The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and his party have filed a petition challenging the declaration of president Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the 2019 presidential election held on February 23, 2019.
Recall that Atiku had inaugurated his legal team that will contest the outcome of the election.
It was gathered that the filing process at the Court of Appeal, was done by a team of lawyers led by Chris Uche.
Atiku is challenging the outcome of the poll, alleging several malpractices which includes rigging and voter apathy as a result of allleged militarization of the poll by the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He claimed that the poll was rigged to favour president Buhari.
It could be recalled that a court had recently approved the PDP’s application to be allowed access to materials used for the election.
The PDP had in a statement claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had refused access despite the court order.
President Buhari’s legal team led by Wole Olanipekun had also made a similar request in the court.
