The Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has assured corps members to be used as ad-hoc staff that his administration is doing everything possible to ensure their security and safety during the 2019 general elections.
Ganduje gave the assurance on Wednesday at the passing out parade of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) three weeks orientation exercise for the 2018 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members at Kusalla, in Karaye Local Government Area.
The Governor was represented by the State’s Commissioner of Information, Internal Affairs, Youths and Culture, Malam Muhammad Garba.
According to him, his administration is having series of meetings with all the 44 Local Government Council Chairmen, security agencies and all stakeholders aimed at ensuring the safety of the corps members.
He further charged the corps members to exhibit high sense of decorum during the forth coming elections aimed at having a peaceful and successful elections come 2019.
Ganduje added that the corps members being part of the ad-hoc staff that will participate in the election exercise should shun any act of corruption, election malpractice and any act capable of causing violence.
The governor further encouraged them to contribute their quota towards his developmental programmes, especially in education, agriculture, rural infrastructure, national health and immunization campaigns.
He also enjoined the youth to understand and respect the culture, tradition and religion of their host communities and should take all necessary measures in ensuring their personal security.
Earlier in his welcome address, the NYSC Coordinator in Kano, Alhaji Ladan Baba, urged the corps members to settle fast anywhere they are posted to and meaningfully impact on the lives of the people in the communities they serve.
He charged them to work diligently during their primary assignments, stand for integrity and be good ambassadors of their families, state and the NYSC.
Baba also commended the efforts of the state government and its people for their unflinching support and cooperation to the scheme in Kano.
