2019: Buhari to receive N45m APC nomination form from supporters

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Tuesday in Abuja formally receive his nomination form for 2019 presidential election, purchased by a group of his supporters.

The event will take place by 11:30am at the New Banquet Hall of the Aso Rock Villa, said a presidency official.

The President’s party, All Progressive Congress (APC) had fixed the fees for Expression of Interest and Nomination Form at a total of N55 million, but Buhari reportedly complained the could not afford it.

It was then reviewed downwards to N45 million and a group, under the auspices of National Consolidation Ambassadors Network (NCAN), headed for the party secretariat in Abuja and purchased the two forms for the President.

Some analysts and newspaper commentators have however, asked the President to reject the gift as it placed a moral and possibly legal constraints on the his anti-corruption stance and the laws guiding receipt of campaign donations to politicians.
