Femi fani kayode court - Dasuki funds : Ill-health stalls Femi fani-Kayode's trial

The ongoing trial of former aviation minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has hit a stumbling block following the politician’s inability to appear in court due to ill health.

On Wednesday, at the ABuja federal high court, proceedings were stalled in the money-laundering case leveled against Kayode after his lawyer, Balogun Wale told the court that his client was ill.

Kayode was earlier arraigned before the court by the EFCC on a five-count charge of money laundering in which the court adjourned to December 14th. The case file with no. FHC/ABJ/CR/140/2016 has Fani-Kayode as the sole defendant. He is accused of diverting N26 million, which he allegedly received from former national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki. It is alleged that he moved the money without using a financial institution.
Balogun also tendered a letter from an undisclosed hospital where the minister was being treated. He refused to tell the court the nature of the sickness and prayed the court to adjourn the case.
Presiding Judge, Justice Tsoho sought the response of prosecution lawyer, Ojogbane Johnson, who confirmed being shown the hospital letter and stated his support for adjournment.
The case was adjourned to February 6th.
