A man is writhing in pain at a hospital in Kenya after he was savagely attacked by a tout. Bernard Chege had travelled to Nairobi from Kericho last Friday to attend a job interview. He boarded a lorry headed to Rongai at around 11pm and says everything was sailing smoothly until they reached an area called barclays stage.
Chege says the tout was travelling in the same vehicle with him and on reaching Barclays, the tout connived with the bus driver and conductor to suddenly attack him and steal his valuables. He tried to defend himself and in the process the tout sunk his teeth deeply into Mr Chege’s lip and made sure he chewed off a chunk of it, causing Chege to bleed profusely.
The criminal trio then threw Mr Chege off the vehicle after they had robbed him of his phone and money. Luck ran out on the criminals after Chege mustered some strength and went to file a report at a local police station. He had memorized the number of the vehicle and this helped the police track down the suspects.
The conductor and the driver were called and they agreed to come to the station. They however came without the tout but returned Mr. Chege’s phone. They also agreed to pay his hospital bill.
