Coca-Cola is currently under investigation after some employees discovered bags of cocaine hidden in a shipment of orange juice concentrate at a factory managed by the beverage drink giant. The factory situated in Signes, Southern France, produces concentrates for various drinks.
Biggest Cocaine discovery in France
The huge cache amounted to 370 kilograms and it has a street value of $56 million, making it the largest cocaine discovery on French soil. A spokesperson for Coca-cola France stated that employees notified the police and a full scale investigation has commenced. The company’s regional president,Jean-Denis Malgras told newsmen that no employee of Coca-cola was involved. He said;
“The first elements of the investigation have shown that employees are in no way involved,”
It is widely known that Coca leaves (raw material for cocaine) was used in producing the coca-cola drink in the 19th century although the company has consistently said that cocaine has never been an ‘added ingredient’.
