Two men — Gbemi Alabimand Gbeke Ayerin — were on Thursday brought before an
Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly breaking into a house and stealing items worth N150,000.
They were, however, released on bail in the sum of N150, 000 each with one surety each.
The accused — Alabi, 29, and Ayerin, 25 — are standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, felony and stealing.
According to Police Prosecutor Zedekiah Orogbemi, the accused and another man still at large had on Sept. 2 about 6.30 p.m. at a
building along Okitipupa-Irele Road in Okoitipupa committed the offences.
Orogbemi said the accused stole a Panasonic plasma TV, two Tiger generators and one standing fan, all valued at N150,000,
belonging to the complainant, Bunmi Kolapo.
The offences contravened Sections 390(9), 415 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The duo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate Dickson Oginfuyi, who gave the ruling, said the surety must provide evidence of one year tax payment.
Further hearing has been fixed for Oct. 22.
