Two men- Sunday Otsaga,56, and Tahiru Akerah,58, were on Tuesday arraigned in a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing N45,000.

Otsaga and Akerah, were docked on a two-count charge of joint act and theft, offences they denied committing.

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that one Agom Edward of Byazhin Across, Kubwa, Abuja, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on Feb. 28.

He said ‎that the defendants jointly and dishonestly stole N45, 000 from the complainant’s pocket while on transit in the same car.

Olanipekun further said that the defendants were arrested while attempting to escape, adding that N23, 000 was recovered from them.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Mohammed Marafa‎, however, granted the defendants N30, 000 bail each with one surety each in like sum and adjourned the matter until April 18 for hearing
