No fewer than 182,800 persons in Daura Local Government area received the Long Lasting Insecticidal Mosquito Nets LLINs across the 70 designated distribution points in the area.
Alhaji Ado Maiadua, the council Roll Back Malaria officer (RBMO), made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Daura on Thursday .
He said the distribution formula of one mosquito net per two persons was strictly adhered to, adding that “we have covered the eleven existing electoral wards in this area.”
Maiadua called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the treated nets to guard themselves against frequent malaria infection.
He about 85 per cent of out patients patronising health facilities in Daura was attributed to rampant instances of malaria infections, adding that “we are currently conducting a mop up exercise to cover those who missed the opportunity during the first round of the net distribution.”
Malam Ahmed Murtala, the Director of Primary Healthcare in the council, commended Katsina State government for prompt release of counterpart funds to prosecute the primary health care programmes.
He said the government had been prompt in the procurement of medical equipment across existing health facilities in the area, stressing that “we receive delivery of drugs and vaccines at regular intervals.”
Murtala called on parents to continue to make their children available for routine and polio immunisation, stressing that an immunized child has 90 per cent chances of survival than the non-immunised.
NAN reports Daura LGA has immunized a total of 80,088 children against polio in the just concluded out brake response immunisation against polio conducted last week.
