Ortom directs finance ministry to address underpayment of workers

Governor of Benue state, Samuel ortom has ordered the ministry of finance to address the underpayment of workers in the state. A statement released by the government read;

We wish to assure workers of Benue State whose salaries were recently underpaid that Governor Samuel Ortom has heard their complaints and has already directed that appropriate corrective measures be taken without delay.

Governor Ortom has equally directed the Ministry of Finance to ensure that similar errors do not occur in subsequent salary payments.

The Governor reassures workers of the state that his administration gives priority to the payment of workers’ wages and other entitlements and will do more as the economy improves.

He acknowledges the understanding shown by labour unions in the state despite delayed payment of salaries as a result of insufficient funds.

Governor Ortom restates the resolve of his administration to uphold transparency and accountability in the management of state resources.
