Former Delta governor, James Ibori to be released in December

Former governor, James Onanefe Ibori is set to be released in December after serving half of his jail sentence in a UK prison.

Ibori was slammed with a 13 year jail sentence in 2012 after pleading guilty to 10 charges of money laundering and fraud. The 57 year old will not be immediately returning to the country as he is poised to defend the confiscation of his assets worth millions of pounds.

His lawyer Ivan Krolick told Southwark Crown Court on Friday that James was going to challenge his conviction in the Court of Appeal based on documents that have only recently been disclosed to the defence by the prosecution.
