Customs intercept 650 bags of smuggled rice in Ogun state (Photos)

A Team of Customs Officers on patrol along Onfo Creeks in Ipokia, Idiroko Area of Ogun State have seized 650 bags of smuggled rice, with Duty Paid Value of N6,528,000.

The Team Leader CSC Akintomide Akinkoye said the intelligence they got from patriotic Nigerians led to the success of the operation.

A few weeks back, precisely on November 15th, the customs service impounded a petroleum tanker filled to capacity with imported rice along the Idiroko axis of Ogun state. Another arrest was also made, involving Twenty five (25) vehicles loaded with smuggled rice along the same route. On November 21st, a trailer carrying 500 bags of smuggled rice,bound for the eastern part of the country, was intercepted on Lagos-Sagamu Interchange.

Ogun state is a hotbed of rice smuggling in Nigeria. The Nigerian customs is very dedicated to its anti-smuggling campaign and has promised to maintain its success in busting smuggling rings in Nigeria.
