Governor of Bauchi praised for prompt payment of workers’ salaries
The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has commend Governor M. A. Abubakar for offsetting the state and local government workers salaries. The delegation which was led by the National President Comrade Ayuba Wada told the Governor that they were at the Government House to also register their support and loyalty to the present administration for what has been done for the workers. He described the governor as a leader who cares for the wellbeing of his people and development of the state.
Comrade Wada challenged other governors in the country to emulate Gov. Abubakar in terms of the payment of salaries and infrastructural development. He noted that the association has followed with keen interest, the offsetting of salary arrears in the state despite dwindling resources.
The NLC Leader assured the Governor that civil servants in the state will pay back the gesture by being punctual to work, transparent and supportive to the present administration. Additionally, he hailed Gov. Abubakar as a Comrade Governor.
Responding, Gov. M. A. Abubakar expressed delight for the visit describing the civil service as the back bone for the meaningful implementation of good government policies. The Governor also recalled efforts being made to revive the lost glory of the civil service and the payment of 4 months outstanding salaries owed workers by the past administration.
Gov. Abubakar reiterated his belief to improve worker’s welfare; disclosing government recently acquired the Shehu Wunti Housing Estate at the cost of N307million, where rehabilitation works have reached advanced stages under an owner-occupier plan for civil servants in the state. He also called on the NLC to join in rooting out the menace of ghost workers.
