These are fresh photos from the Court of appeal in Abuja this morning as Eyitayo Jegede, the Ondo guber candidate for the Makarfi led faction of the PDP battles Biyi Poroye. Poroye is the Ondo state chairman of the Sheriff led PDP faction.
Court proceedings, at the time of filing this report, were still ongoing. Things kicked off when Jegede’s Lawyer Wole Olanipekun asked the court, presided over by Justice Salauwa, to begin with case 4 CA/A551/C/A /2016. Eyitayo Jegede SAN versus Biyi poroye & ors. Eyitayo then announced his presence as the appellant and Ben Nwofor announced appearance for Poroye and ors, Nelson Anih for INEC and Benson for Ali Modu Sheriff faction of PDP.
Things took a rough turn as Poroye’s lawyer was presenting his motion. He took the floor and told the court he had a motion dated 3rd November and while still talking, Ali Modu Sheriff’s lawyer, Mrapkor interrupts that the application of Nwofor shouldn’t be granted, because he has some pending processes to file at the registry. This he presented in an unruly manner. Justice Salauwa enraged, came down hard on Mrapkor (Sheriff’s lawyer), condemned his arrogance and contemptuous nature and advised him to comport himself and not denigrate the hallowed Court. After hesitation, Mrapkor apologies arrogantly, says it’s not intended and insisted shouting was his nature.
Olanipekun corroborates Nwofor that Mrapkor’s action is unfair as respect to the bench is for enduring posterity. He added that Mrakpor is only crying more that the bereaved being a respondent in the matter.
Raji Ahmed and Goke Fakunle, both SANs, then asked the judge for forgiveness over Mrakpkor’s embarrassment to the court on the condition that it won’t repeat itself. Salauwa forgives and tells Mrakpor to ‘go and sin no more’.
