A total of 174 inmates have escaped from a prison in Northern Haiti after stealing firearms and killing a guard, yesterday, October 22nd. The inmates were being led to a bathing area when the incident occurred. They overpowered the guards escorting them, killed one and locked up the other two.
The deadly inmates also stole about 5 rifles and ammunition. A manhunt has been launched by authorities with support from UN peacekeepers. Checkpoints have been setup on all roads leading to Arcahaie prison and some arrests have been made. The only major problem is that inmates at Arcahaie prison do not wear uniforms, so that make it easy for them to blend in with the rest of the populace.
