A former minister of the federal capital territory, Jumoke Akinjide has bowed to EFCC pressure as she has recently returned the sum of N10 million to the commision. This is an aftermath of the Anti-graft agency’s crack-down on corrupt officials from the last Administration.
The former minister, who was the Oyo State coordinator of the Goodluck Jonathan campaign organisation, alongside some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the state, allegedly received N650m during the build-up to the 2015 presidential election.
Trouble started for Akinjide after several of her cohorts including the PDP chairman in Oyo state,Yinka Taiwo were arrested by the EFCC. A reliable source at the EFCC said that Akinjide was a regular visitor at the Lagos office of the anti-graft commission. He confirmed that the minister has returned N10 million and was cooperating with EFCC officials to return more.
How she got the Money
Deeper investigations show that the money received by Akinjide and her cohorts originate from former petroleum minister, Diezani Allison Madueke and disbursed by Mrs. Nenadi Usman, Director of Finance, Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation. Usman is currently in court on money laundering charges.
